In this true story, set in New York State in summer, 1919, an industrial commissioner is sent to resolve a tricky dispute which has closed Rome’s non-unionised copper factories. Frances Perkins was a pioneer in this role, just as she was 14 years later, as the first woman ever to sit in the American cabinet, under Franklin Roosevelt. Truly an unsung hero, Frances would later become known as ’the mother of the New Deal’.
