Temptation and the Elders explores the clash between Science and Culture, between fact and faith, between truth and fiction. When the ancient remains of a skeleton are found in America’s Columbia River it raises questions about the original peopling of the United States causing tension between scientists on the one hand, and native Americans on the other. How far will people go to hide the truth and replace it with a convenient narrative and just how “impartial” are scientists today? Are many of them simply political activists with an agenda? The play is very loosely based on the true controversy surrounding the remains of what became known as “Kennewick Man” in the mid 90s.
