King Canute – the Road to Shaftesbury
King Canute ruled England from 1016 to 1035, along with a “Northern Empire” of Denmark, Norway and part of Sweden. How did this Viking warrior-turned-Christian-king handle his far-flung empire and his two concurrent wives, Elfie and Emma? Each wants her son by Canute to rule after his death. That makes them deadly enemies.
