Mr Punch started as a string of jokes, in reaction to criticism that the puppet play promoted violence, and an early version was read at AWL (HAWG) in 2002. This evenings play is very different. There is still verbal humour, but the violence is no longer a joke. A full production is being planned for 2012, in consultation with groups combating domestic abuse.
