David Shirreff is a former journalist who started writing musicals, plays and the odd novel in 2009.
He left The Economist in 2014, embarking on a second career. His published books include Vulkan, a cold war thriller (2015), Overland, a ‘Hippie Trail’ travelogue (1970, published in 2022), Gundermann: East Germany’s Coal Miner Rock Poet (2023), and Angels Over Lusatia, a climate-change novel (2024). There are plenty more manuscripts in the bottom drawer.
