John Karter is a former writer and editor for The Sunday Times, The Times, and The Independent. He is the author of a novella: The Profit (Roast Books, 2009), and six non-fiction books: Park Life (Metro Books, 2017, co-writer); Psychology of Relationships (Icon Books, 2012); The Love Delusion (e-Book Partnership, 2013); On Training to be a Therapist (Open University Press, 2002); Frankie Dettori - the Biography (Headline, 1995); Lester - Return of a Legend (Headline, 1992).
He has recently started writing plays as well as prose, which is why he has joined AWL, where he knows many of the writers and actors, having attended several AWL productions.
He is a qualified psychotherapist with 20 years’ experience in private practice and in various mental health organisations, although no longer practising. He is a presenter for Marlow FM radio on a voluntary basis, and for many years worked as a film and TV extra, his big moment coming when Cate Blanchett, playing The Queen in the 2007 movie Elizabeth: the Golden Age, introduced herself and shook his trembling hand!
